What are the Requirements of the Affiliate Mashup Store?

The Affiliate Mashup Store requires MySQL, PHP5 and SOAP installed on your webserver. If your server fulfills these requirements then the Mashup Store should work.

However, the Commission Junction API, which the store uses for its product catalogues, is temperamental, so I highly recommend downloading and installing the free sample script before investing in the Mashup Store. If the sample script works then you should have no problems.

Webhosts that are known to work with the Mashup Store include HostGator and 1and1.

What Content is Included with the Store?

The bulk of the Store's content comes from the Commission Junction marketplace. When you set up a catalogue for your store you choose a keyword or group of keywords and the store will automatically fill your database with products from your CJ merchants.

You also get a feed of eBay products and a page for Youtube videos, all dynamically generated from your keywords or user-submitted search terms.

The Store also allows you to write static pages of html, for the purposes of articles and other non-retail content.

Will the Mashup Store work in my Country?

Yes indeed. In fact, you can specify different catalogues of products for visitors from different countries. The Store knows where your visitors are located and can show them local products as long as you create a catalogue specifically for them.

Targeting country-specific products is as simple as creating a new catalogue and specifying a particular currency, so long as you are affiliated with CJ merchants in that country.

Is the Mashup Store for Me?

Maybe, maybe not. It's not for everyone. I've made the installation process as simple as possible, but you'll still need to know how to create a MySQL database on your webserver and upload files and directories via FTP.

You'll also need to know why you want an affiliate product site and how to promote it. Just creating a site and leaving it won't achieve much. It'll rank for a few keywords, certainly (in fact, my own sites rank for hundreds of keywords automatically), but unless you can get out there and advertise your site and generate quality backlinks you won't be using it to its full potential.

How Many Sites can I Create?

As many as you want! The Mashup Store comes with an unlimited site licence, meaning you can use it over and over again to create as many different niche sites as you want. You're only limited by the number of databases you can create.

Are there any Ongoing Fees?

Do I get Commission for Every Product I Sell?
